Kurma Avatar

The painting here demonstrates the ‘Kurma Avatar’ of Lord Vishnu, which was the second incarnation in the form of a tortoise. The Kurma avatar of Lord Vishnu is usually represented in a mixed human-animal form. The human half, which is the upper half, is depicted wearing the same ornaments and holding the same weapons as in the usual images of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu is depicted in golden color and shown holding Shankha (corn-shell), and the Chakra (a discus) in his two hands, and the other two hands are holding a lotus and a Kaumodaki Gada (mace). He appears in this avatar at a time of crisis to restore the cosmic equilibrium. This painting is the reservoir of faith and the power of the almighty. I was inspired and influenced by miniature forms of paintings. Miniature paintings, as the name suggest are traditional style of art that is very detailed and colorful handmade paintings.
